Double page planning

This Indie Magazine follows the same three column rule as is the common convention in most magazines. The main image takes up four columns and the text two. The band used in the image have direct address to the camera. They are wearing typical Indie clothing, loose fitting and plain colours. They have a prop of two guitars which represents the live festival aspect to the band. All the artists are of an early twenties age which falls into the target audience of this genre. They are all white which again fits into a common convention of Indie music.

In this double page spread, the rule of the columns is present, like the other magazine the image takes up four columns and the text takes up two, this gives the balance of image to font ratio in favour of the image . This could represent how important image is to the target audience. The colour palette  is two tone with purple to help the audience recognise the masthead.

Photos: I wanted to make photos relevant to my article so I grinded some block paint to make powder paint so I could have people throw it at each other for a photo shoot. This represents the artist and singers art being thrown together.

I also did a few photo-shoots for my main image with the same model that I have on my front cover. The first one was of him wearing another dress with dirt across his face again to attract my target audience of boys and girls by giving him a macho pose with a girly dress:
After getting feedback on the pictures from this shoot I realised it didn't look good and he looked more dirty than masculine. So I did another one of him in fashionable clothes as fashion is very important to my target audience. I used a bright background and had him use a lolly pop as a prop. Although this is used in a lot of pop magazines to attract the audience I wanted to use it because I am going to add the symbols on it. I also like the way the model's face is slightly out of focus as if he is focusing on the art work as well.
